"This was a fun, insightful, and very informative class. I felt more empowered, aware, and patient as a parent to my 2.5 year old. This class also provided me with opportunities for great dialogue with my husband, and we have become a better parenting team! Winter 2011
"Melissa and Robin clearly have a special gift in connecting with people and children" Winter 2011
"A great way to enhance your parenting skills, build valuable tools, and form relationships with other moms. Winter 2011
“Truly extraordinary facilitators!! A life-changing course that has absolutely made me a better parent!” Mom of three (2, 4 and 6 yrs), Fall 2010
“For the small cost of this workshop, you get a tremendous amount of value. Melissa & Robin are highly trained and excellent facilitators. They achieve the right mix of content focused on moms, then toddlers, as well as lots of opportunity for practice. Connecting with other moms who are going through the same tough times was really enlightening and valuable.” Mom of two, Fall 2010 “This class pioneers a parenting mindset that is affirming, efficient and creates a win-win for the whole family.” Mom of two, Fall 2010 "This series offered specific tools I could use the same day in a supportive validating setting. I gained confidence in myself, my marriage and my parenting. Thank you!" Mom of two, Fall 2010 "You guys are awesome and I think every single mom should take mommy matters!" Mom, Spring 2010 “This is exactly the class I was looking for! I realized that I can empower my daughter with the tools I have learned through problem solving instead of dictating.” Single Mom, Spring 2010 “I was completely empowered by this workshop! It set me free to enjoy my children and parent them thoughtfully and lovingly.” Mother of two, Spring 2010 “As a busy mom, it is hard to make the time to take a class on being a mom. I decided to make it happen, however, and was very glad that I did. I got a TON of value out of the class. The instructors were awesome -- bringing their own experiences into the mix when it was relevant, letting the group members learn from each other as much as possible. I learned some great tools for coping with my independent toddler that have made my days far more pleasant. But as important, I appreciated the holistic approach to parenting -- that being fulfilled as a parent requires not just mastering discipline a, but also making sure that we don't neglect the rest of our lives. I went into the class feeling overwhelmed by my toddler, and thanks to Melissa and Robin now feel much more confident about my abilities as a parent.”

"Incredible workshop - Incredible facilitators---Really! Melissa and Robin are very real and open with their own personal experiences which make the training that much more realistic and helpful. Otherwise, I think it would have been - for me at least - a bunch of really good ideas that I wouldn't know exactly how to act upon. Great amount of humor and professionalism made it feel safe and "at home" to discuss concerns around raising my twins :) thank you" East Side Mom of Twins (Microsoft Mom), Summer 2009
“I feel more confident with my parenting style and know that I have tools I can use in some of the more difficult situations.” Mother of two, Spring 2010 “Wow, opened my eyes a lot and gave me freedom from stress of needing to be in control!” Mother of toddler and preschooler, Spring 2010
“ I participated in the last Mommy Matters class and it was a huge help to me and my family. I got so much out of the class and we have already seen improvements in my son's behavior (and in our parenting). I highly recommend it!” Sarah R, Green Lake Mom, Spring 2009
“I was in the Mommy Matters group offered last spring and highly recommend it to anyone looking for information and support around raising a toddler. Some of the information was new and some I was familiar with, but I think that what was most valuable was having a group of intelligent and thoughtful women to share ideas and experiences with. Robin and Melissa were very good at drawing out people for open conversation and gently leading the discussions. We talked about practical approaches as well as more theoretical ideas around parenting. And, I came away knowing a group of supportive, capable and admirable women.” Kristin K, Wallingford Mom, Spring 2009 "Like many of you, I strive to be a good parent but sometimes doubt if I’m good enough or if I’m doing the right thing. Getting through the milestones with a newborn and young baby felt great but now that we’ve reached toddlerhood (a precursor to the power struggles of the teen years, I hear) I was having a lot of struggles with my son. I signed up for this class thinking I would get some tips because they blend Love & Logic, Alfie Kohn, John Gottman, etc. What I got exceeded my expectations enormously! On my desk now, I have the index cards that remind me to act from my essence and values. I have the tips on my refrigerator and I have the Yahoo listserv of my fellow classmates with whom I’ve become friends. This class is incredibly empowering in that you realize you are NOT ALONE in your challenges with your toddler. Melissa and Robin are very skilled facilitators – they allowed everyone to share experiences and be heard but they also (somehow) managed to get us through the content AND give us time to practice these skills in class. I can’t emphasize enough how much role playing and practicing helps. You can read all the parenting advice you want but it really takes practice to get it right. Honestly, I’m still practicing but at least I’m using different approaches that seem to be working. My son and I have more relaxing days and he seems to be more cooperative because I’m taking better care of myself, I’m happier, and I have great tools at my fingertips. I’m “filling his emotional cup” as much as I can and by giving him choices or working on solutions together, I have seen a real difference in his behavior and our relationship. We seem to have less power struggles. This workshop was, hands down, the best money I ever spent. I highly recommend it." Mom, Fall 2010 |
